Excellent opportunity to join a leading family owned food manufacturer as a Packaging Designer.

Recipe for Success:
In an increasingly competitive market, innovation has become an important tool to drive performance of the business and connect with our consumer and the role of Packaging Designer is essential to our success. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of packaging solutions that meet both the short and longer term requirements of the Innovation process.
Key accountabilities include:
* Supporting the development of innovative packaging concepts in response to Innovation brief - ideation, concept generation, trial and evaluation
* Translation of project briefs into packaging briefs for suppliers, for whom you will be a key point of contact
* Manufacture of prototypes and mock ups, for sell-ins and presentations. Working with suppliers and design agencies to develop drawings, tools, models and pilot samples
* Testing of prototypes during the development process and through the supply chain through to in-store and on-shelf
* Ensure that all packaging trials, commissioning and first production runs are supported, conducted and documented effectively
* New packaging equipment sign off. Prepare or contribute to packaging related justifications for capital expenditure and evaluation
* Competitor product analysis, bench marking of national and international markets.

Essential Ingredients:

* Experience working within FMCG environment.
* Able to demonstrate packaging development experience involving design and innovation through to commercialisation
* IT and PC knowledge - able to use a wide range of software.
* Good planning and organising skills with the ability to prioritise and work independently with minimal supervision.
* Creative approach with can- do attitude.
* Communicating skills - articulate, open and supportive in manner, values and shows respect for differences in personal style and beliefs, listens to and welcomes ideas from others and asks helpful questions.
* Analysing and problem solving skills - anticipates problems before they occur and takes steps to deal with them/correctly & swiftly identifies the underlying problem & finds appropriate solutions. Asks probing questions - is inquisitive. Is meticulous - has a good eye for detail.
* Decision making skills - makes effective decisions in areas affecting own job, has the confidence to defend decisions assertively, uses judgment to refer decisions to higher authority where appropriate, actively listens to others and solicits their views before deciding what to do.
* Commercial skills - recognises day-to-day issues, which are commercially important to the business, identifies opportunities to improve the commercial effectiveness of own area.
