Senior Creative 3D Designer - retail display and exhibitions

Salary GBP45k plus bonus (dependant on experience)

We have an exciting opportunity for a senior creative 3D designer to join CPI Connect. The division is creative display specialist that sits within the CPI UK Group structure. CPI Connect help clients' marketing and brand teams design, print and install engaging In-Store POS and Exhibition Displays. We are a small team that works closely together to deliver big ideas for our clients. Our brand new central London office in Shoreditch is where the studio is located.

This fantastic role will suit a senior creative designer looking to make their mark in an established division of the company. You will be working with a dynamic sales and account management team providing designs across a broad range of market sectors with large blue chip clients. Reporting in to the Head of the Connect division you will also be tasked with building up the studio team as the division grows and being the lead designer within the studio and managing day-to-day activities of our 2D designer and freelance network. As the team grows the opportunity for a Creative Management role will be there with view on more strategic matters to help take the business forward. Essential Skills and abilities:

You must be able to come up with fast ideas that fit the budget and timescales producing visuals to showcase these ideas in 3D, including hand drawn sketches and rough rendered visuals for feedback before developing and refining the visuals.

You will ideally have at least 6 years of agency experience in a retail/POS design role, with a strong portfolio that demonstrates this. We will be looking for great examples of innovative solutions that worked particularly well for the client and the rationale behind your designs, in both temporary and permanent materials
Work will vary from producing small POS units through to full out exhibition stands and retail spaces/shop-in-shop areas. A good ability of graphical 2D design will also be required.
You will be comfortable presenting and articulating your ideas, as you will be required to attend client meetings and present your designs face-to-face so you need to be a great communicator.

Key Responsibilities:
• Produce visuals and designs from supplied brief, showing applicable market research, mood boards, designs and relevant annotation to clearly convey your ideas, from hand drawn scamps through to well-presented 3D renders in situ.
• Manage day-to-day studio activities and allocate required resources.
• Provide line management within the creative studio.
• Keep up to date timesheets making sure the creative is on time and to budget.
• Provide 2D graphic design where required to support the 3D visuals.
• Be able to produce print ready artwork files to suit a broad range of print production techniques.
• Produce scale drawings of 3D visuals that can be used for production in a broad range of materials from card through to wood, metal & acrylic.
• Attend client meetings when requested to deliver and present your designs.
• Manage your own workload and set and agree schedules with relevant account management team. Use provided systems to record time spent on projects and deliver to set deadlines.
• Help develop the branding of the division.
• Conduct market research where applicable including visiting stores/clients and also Internet based research.
• Manage external freelance design support when required for large projects
• Prepare pitch designs as a sales tool to help the team win over new clients

Required Experience:
• Degree in 3D Design or equivalent.
• Experience in working in an agency style environment for 6 years minimum
• Strong portfolio of work.
• Good verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Management experience in a design environment, including your own work and management of others.
• Ability to undertake brand audits, survey project sites, review competitors, study consumer profiles, behaviours and mind-set.
• Experience with Mac based software; 3D Studio Max, Sketch Up or Cinema 4D and Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD experience.
