My client is a well-established Creative Communications agency in the heart of Leeds; they are currently looking to employ a Design Manager, who will work alongside the Design Director and deliver high calibre projects for clients.
The Role
• The Design Manager will use design expertise and project management skills to work collaboratively with our clients and internal teams to deliver outstanding design to our clients.
• Define and develop the client briefs and manage and drive design projects from ideas/concept through to the end result.
• Motivate and inspire a design implementation team, critiquing work and delivering feedback to ensure that output is on brief and will meet, or exceed, client expectations.
• Use competitor trends and benchmarking to ensure that what is delivered is best in class.
• Challenge the design and account teams to push the brief where possible.
• Be experienced enough to take difficult feedback professionally and keep the design team motivated.
• Have the ability to present work confidently and sell ideas to our clients.
• Demonstrate gravitas and experience in client meetings. Be self assured and able to judge the situation and push back when appropriate.
Experience Required
• You will have a good eye for design and will have been a designer in a previous life, but are now in a management role, rather than being a hands-on designer. However, you will be able to still jump on a mac when required to accelerate or initiate a design project.
• You should have experience of retail design either from an in house design team or a design agency and be comfortable working in a fast paced, high pressured environment.
• People experience and the ability to motivate a team is key.
• You will be a great project manager, capable of handling multiple projects at any one time.
• You will be client facing when required so should be able to present and sell ideas confidently as well as having the skill of pushing back when needed
