Our Client are looking to hire a Vegetation Surveyor. The Vegetation Surveyor will report directly to the Managing Director.

On a day to day basis you will be expected to carry out the survey of utility sites to evaluate vegetation clearance work required and resource requirements to ensure work is completed in a safe, cost effective and timely manner as well as maintaining and working with company vehicles and equipment. Good team-work and communication skills are essential, as is reliability and good timekeeping.

Areas of responsibility for the Vegetation Surveyor are:

??? Undertaking a site survey, taking accurate measurements, drawings and taking of photographs
??? Submitting survey information onto company manufacturing data sheets
??? Attention to detail when preparing consent forms, measurements and drawings
??? To deliver all assigned work to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
??? Contacting customers, arranging site visits to identify and clarify need and expectations
??? To report promptly and accurately on all activities to the contractor as required as per individual specifications
??? You will be expected to work alongside your colleagues in order to ensure tasks are undertaken on time and to a consistently high standard.
??? Assessing site safety
??? Meeting agreed targets

The Vegetation Surveyor will have the following skills:

??? Maths and English qualifications at GCSE level or equivalent
??? NPTC UA1 and UA5.1 and 5.2
??? Basic Tree Inspection and Survey qualification.
??? At least 2 years surveying experience
??? Experience of arboriculture or vegetation management
??? Full UK driving licence
??? Knowledge and experience of tree surveying techniques and risk/hazard assessment methodologies with particular reference to utilities and electricity supply
??? Proficient in tree and key fungal species identification and knowledge
??? Experience and knowledge of strict Health and Safety operations and its practical implications, with the ability to complete field based risk assessments.
??? Experience of working safely within guidance and legislation
??? Experience and knowledge of preparing clear work specifications and risk assessments for contractors, for individual or small groups of trees
??? Numerate and proficient with MS Word, Outlook and Excel
??? Practical use of GIS-based software for tree mapping and assessment or broad understanding of GIS systems and hand held data capture
??? Good organisational, administration and time management skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills
??? Experience of dealing with a range of personnel including contractors, clients, customers, tree officers, wayleaves officers
??? To commit to own personal development, training and learning new skills to carry out all required duties

Desirable but not essential criteria:
??? Tech Cert, Level 4 Diploma and Arb qualifications are welcome
??? Practical experience of Overhead Line Vegetation Clearance
??? Electrical network authorisation/DNO Authorisation
??? NRSWRA Certificate (Signing, Lighting, Guarding)
??? First Aid Certification
??? Professional Tree Inspector qualification

The salary is GBP22,000 per annum (for a 40 hour week)
