Pertemps are pleased to be recruiting for a Tax Manager on behalf of our well respected, established Legal Firm in Central Edinburgh.

The successful candidate will lead and manage the Tax Compliance team, providing high quality advisory services to clients. The portfolio consists of Private, Business and Trust Clients of the Firm. A CTA qualification would be an advantage, although the position is open to soemone who is ATT qualified with a strong track record. This may also suit someone who is looking to develop their career into a management role.

Main duties of the role include:
•Work with Team Leader to ensure delivery of Business Plan;

•Ensure proper and effective completion of annual tax return and other HMRC forms for individuals, trust and executries;

•Supervision of staff within team and act as Line Manager for them;

•Carrying out Performance and Development Reviews of staff within the Team;

•Provide technical support to staff and other members of the firm together with training as necessary and requested;

•Carry out self assessments for trusts and executries;

•Review and if necessary calculate income distributions to beneficiaries of discretionary trust plus prepare the necessary tax certificates;

•Ensuring financial performance of team including review of individual performance, time recording, feeing, lock up;

•Managing workloads of team.

•Good knowledge of income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, national insurance contributions, trust and partnership taxation

•Experience in reviewing personal tax returns

•Increasing involvement in tax planning projects

•Excellent written and oral communication skills

•Willingness to take responsibility and suggest solutions to problems encountered

•Ability to work as part of a team

•Motivated and committed to continuously developing technical, commercial and client relationship skills

•Effective time management skills and ability to efficiently organise workload to deliver on budget

•Willingness to maintain and develop technical knowledge through internal and external training and reading of technical books/journals

•Ability to remain calm when under pressure and willingness to work overtime to meet deadlines

•Good IT skills

•Knowledge of CCH Personal Tax would be helpful but not essential
