Purpose
Our client is committed to developing and maintaining high standards of Business Continuity across the company. The Business Continuity Management programme must reflect current industry good practice, satisfy the requirements of the regulators in each of the territories in which the company operates.
The role is intended to define, implement and oversee the group approach to Business Continuity (BC) and Crisis Management (CM), excluding IT Service Continuity (ITSC) / Disaster Recovery (DR).

Dimensions
The role is based in London, managing complex and multiple stakeholder relationships with key SBU and Function senior managers across all global locations. Travel to other offices will be expected.

Key Result Areas
Own, Develop deliver the group-wide BC & CM policy, standards and strategy, in line with industry good practice and regulatory requirements
Implement the BC & CM policy, standards, strategy, procedures and required capabilities which support their business aims and guide their delivery to maximum effectiveness
Carry out current state assessments across the company to provide reassurance to senior management that the policy and standards are being met
Maintain a high level of awareness of threats and risks which may impact the company, implementing appropriate response strategies as necessary to mitigate any loss or damage
Lead as Crisis coordinator the crisis management and business interruption situations
Develop and implement BC & CM training, exercising and maintenance programmes
Provide ongoing coaching / advice and guidance to BC & CM personnel in order to achieve and maintain high standards of BC & CM across the company
Prepare and deliver group BC & CM continuity status reports as required to stakeholders
Maintain and continually update a good knowledge and understanding of the BC industry and key technologies in order to add value to the decision making process
Support the delivery of effective IT Disaster Recovery capabilities, associated exercising and maintenance activities
Accountable for ensuring all reports and status updates are provided in a timely manner in line with reporting cycle or based on adhoc events
Develop the annual BC & CM plan and budget and submit to the Group Property & Facilities Manager for approval
Represent the organisation and provide required information to the regulator (PRA) as required
Represent the team/organisation at meetings, seminars and committees. Deliver presentations to the industry, public and private sector when it is relevant to do so
Manage one or more direct report

The Global Business Continuity manager is responsible for the definition, ongoing delivery and readiness of global BC & CM capabilities, to appropriately mitigate arising continuity risks.

Job Specific
• A recognised industry qualification, preferably Fellow of the Business Continuity Industry with at least 10 years BC experience, especially of defining BC & CM programmes
• A good understanding of the Financial Services industry preferred
• Experience of working in large, multifunctional global teams
• Experience of handling crisis and /or business interruption events
• Good understanding and experience of BC & CM strategies and approaches
• An understanding and experience of DR, and of cyber security threats and response planning
• Strong business-facing skills, with a proven ability to build strong relationships
• To be permanently 'on call' and to work outside of the recognised core hours
• To undertake extensive overseas travel and carry out non UK based projects as required
