Our client, a successful and well respected financial services organisation, is currently recruiting for a Mortgage Underwriter to efficiently and effectively process new mortgage and additional borrowing applications from receipt to completion, including underwriting, ensuring best outcomes for the company as well as providing excellent customer service at all times.

Responsibilities:

- Reviewing mortgage submission and application forms received, ensuring that all relevant paperwork is present and accurately completed
- Assessing the application and ensuring that this meets with the criteria of the product conditions and Responsible Lending Policy
- Reviewing additional borrowing applications ensuring that all relevant paperwork is present and accurately completed
- Identifying and determining whether a mortgage application needs to be referred to management before proceeding to the next stage of the mortgage processing procedure
- Completing the Mortgage Applications Check Forms
- Assessing new mortgage/additional borrowing applications on the system in order to produce and compile the formal offer
- Assessing and responding to correspondence received on a daily basis in respect of all items relating to the mortgage offer
- Carrying out search enquiries
- Preparing, balancing and making payment of the Domestic Mortgage Indemnity (DMI) premiums

Skills and experience required:

- CeMAP would be desirable but not essential
- At least 5 GCSEs A-C including Maths and English Language (or equivalent)
- Knowledge of the Responsible Lending Policy is essential although training will be provided Ability to read and assess accounts
- Ability to follow set procedures e.g. Responsible Lending Policy
- Knowledge of Initiate/Activate and CSR essential although training will be provided
- Keyboard skills essential. Knowledge of Word and/or Excel essential
- Excellent communication skills at all levels
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload
- Previous experience and knowledge of mortgage processing and underwriting desirable
- Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
