Trainee Investment Advisor

Job Purpose:
The aim of the Trainee Investment Advisor scheme is to provide candidates with a comprehensive range of experience and training.
Trainee Investment Advisors will provide support and assistance to the branch/desk, but duties and responsibilities will change over time. You are expected adapt to these changing responsibilities and to use them in the learning as well to provide professional support to those using the department's resources.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
The Trainee Investment Advisor Scheme is a 36 month long programme during which you will gain significant practical experience while at the same time attending relevant courses and sitting examinations required for a career in private client investment management. Your continued employment is dependent on passing all three papers of the Investment Advice Diploma (IAD) within the first 6 months of your employment and the full CISI Masters in Wealth Management within the remaining 30 month period.
A key factor in the scheme is the ability to communicate effectively and to build relationships, both internally and externally. Successful applicants will need to possess a proactive and sometimes independent approach, particularly when it comes to studying and building commercial awareness, which require both self-motivation and commitment.

- To learn and understand the systems and processes associated with The Firm.
- To learn and understand about the products and service we provide to our clients
- To become commercially astute.
- To study for and successfully complete the CISI IAD within 6 months of commencement of employment.
- To study and successfully complete the CISI Masters in Wealth Management within the remaining 30 month period (36 months in total).
Qualifications
- Minimum 2:1 degree or equivalent.
- A's and B's at A-level and educated to GCSE or equivalent level including Maths and English.
- Whilst not essential an industry recognised qualification such as an Investment Operations Certificate would be an advantage.
Experience
- Previous experience within the financial services sector would be an advantage
Knowledge and Skills
- Evidence of leadership skills, possibly seen with sporting achievements or responsibilities.
- Strong communication skills - both written and verbal.
- Flexible and adaptable personality.
- "Can-do" attitude.
- Understanding/interest in the financial services sector.
- A very high level of attention to detail and accuracy is vital.
- Organised and efficient.
- Strong team player.
