Job Title: Finance Accountant (Cash Accounting)
Location: South Leicester LE19
Salary: GBP36-42k plus bonus & benefits

This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of Leicestershire's flagship companies and manage the Financial reporting, reconciliation and controls in relation to Retail Banking and to drive implementation of new business initiatives.

Responsibilities

Management:
Responsibility for the management and continued development of a team of 4
Ensure departmental processes are managed, efficient working practices are maintained and all staff are conversant with store payment and banking processes and financial systems.
Ensure that strict financial, operational and security controls are in place.

Financial:
Responsible for the reconciliation of approx GBP52m cash inflow per week (GBP2.7bn pa) generated from retail sales ensuring that cashflow is maximised and all discrepancies are resolved with third party providers.
P&L responsibility for approx GBP13m of costs p.a.
Prepare accurate and timely branch P&L and balance sheet budgets / forecasts.
Monthly balance sheet responsibility for 100+ reconciliations, ensuring that strict controls exist and all reconciliations are produced in line with financial deadlines and procedures.
Manage and maintain the integrity and accuracy of data flows into the general ledger, mainframe and other system packages and ensure all debtor and cash movements are accounted for.
Maintain accurate analytical data for business analysis.
Manage the production of key management account schedules and supporting documentation.
Understand and communicate bad debt and fraud risk exposure and key drivers and adopt relevant provisioning policies.
Manage the processing and controls of RFI's to minimise risks and costs.
Management of 3rd party contracts ensuring service levels are in line with contracts.
Maintain strict controls over invoice, direct debit and settlement validation, ensuring all charges are authorised in accordance with company authorisation limits and agreed contract rates.

Reporting:
Produce timely and accurate statistical reporting and top level KPI's for management review and distribution.
Produce relevant reports including segmental analysis to identify key issues and highlight trends in data including specific suites of reports for management accounts reporting and senior management review.
Manage the production and distribution of exception reporting in the area and ensure that they are continually tailored to meet changing business needs.
Present issues / opportunities identified to senior management on a regular basis

Projects and Business Initiatives:
Suggest and drive forward new business initiatives.
Continuously challenge existing business processes in order to drive improvement.
Lead and manage project development, implementation and post implementation review and reporting.

Communication:
Manage internal working relationships and ensure that strong communication links exist at all levels.
Manage supplier relationships and ensure that service levels are monitored and managed in line with contractual arrangements and business expectations.

Essential:
Qualified Accountant with proven technical, business and accounting skills.
Ability to manipulate and query data accurately at a detailed level as well as to critically assess and identify issues via higher level overview.
Strong management skills / ability to motivate a team.
Problem solving skills / logical thought process - ability to critically assess and resolve key business issues.
Effective communication / assertiveness and influencing skills at all levels.
