Raeburn are handling a 12 month contract based with an Oil and Gas Operator client in South Aberdeen.
The Accounting Manager supervises two staff accountants and coordinates offshore financial services, and is therefore responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner.
This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and SOX internal controls.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
- Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
-Review balance sheet reconciliations and investigate/follow up as required.
-Prepares or validates statutory accounts.
-Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
-Respond to queries from Group and Regional offices , and other finance managers regarding financial results,special reporting requests and the like.
-Work with the Controller to ensure a clean and timely year end audit.
-Supervise the offshore financial services to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
Qualifications:
-Education Chartered Accountant or CIMA accounting qualification required
Technical Skills and Prior Experience
-Five to seven years prior supervisory experience in the financial reporting/statutory accounts is preferred.
-Experience working in a public accounting and auditing services company is preferred.
-Understanding of SOX internal controls is required.
-Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast -pace setting. Experience with SAP ERP and Business Warehouse is a must.
-Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel
