My public sector client is looking to recruit within their Financial Services team and appoint an experienced Finance Accounting Manager. This post is responsible for statutory financial accounting and reporting, statistical returns, capital accounting, VAT, corporate tax, treasury management, post award research finance, payroll, pensions and finance systems.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities of the post: -

The post holder will be required to assist the Financial Controller in all aspects of the team's responsibilities, but with particular emphasis on:

• Statutory reporting requirements, in particular the production of the business annual statutory accounts.
• Assisting the Financial Controller in the review of the potential corporation tax liability of the business activities, production of calculations in relation to these, and drafting corporation tax returns.
• Working with other members of the Financial Services team in the day to day administration of VAT issues, answering queries from across the business and ensuring the records maintained are adequate to enable the submission of the quarterly VAT returns;
• Assisting with the development of the coding structure of the finance system, and the reporting there from, to support finance staff across the business and in the rest of the Finance Office in completing their operational and strategic objectives.
• The effective line management of the Post Award Finance Senior Finance Assistants
• Participating in cross functional projects
• Liaising with the Finance Manager - Accounting Services to ensure day to day operations of the whole Financial Services section are carried out efficiently and effectively.

Overall Purpose of the Role:

• Will provide professional advice and/or support, directly or indirectly to departments based upon a full understanding of a professional or specialised area of work.
• Will have gained a professional qualification (or are working towards) and/or vocational or professional experience.
• Will be expected to contribute to longer term developments within the departments by giving advice and specialist support.
• May lead a team within the department and/or in project activity and plan, prioritise and monitor to ensure effective use of resources.
• Will influence decisions or events by working collaboratively internally and externally to the business.
• Will evaluate and analyse information and use initiative and creativity to solve non-standard problems.

Competency Specification:

• Can demonstrate a full understanding of financial accounting.
• A relevant financial qualification and/or experience and will be working towards a recognised accounting qualification.
