The Operational and Regulatory Risk team is one of four teams that make up the well-established Group Risk function here at Phoenix Group. Reporting in to a Senior Operational Risk Manager (Quants), you will have a group wide remit with oversight of all operational risk, focusing on Operational Risk capital calculations within the Phoenix Solvency Capital Requirement under the Solvency II regime. Additionally, you will contribute to the maintenance of the risk management framework and you will promote a positive compliance and risk culture.

Key Responsibilities:

- Ensuring that the capital model remains fit for purpose and reflects both internal and external expectations in terms of technical and industry practice
- Steering the framework for collation and empirical use of operational risk data in supporting the calculation engine
- Working closely with the Actuarial and Finance functions to ensure that outputs feed in appropriately into the wider capital processes, whilst being able to assess the broader implications of changes to the Operational Risk capital profile
- Building, supporting and enhancing risk relationships by providing business areas with advice/ guidance/support to ensure Line 1 are able to effectively provide the required input into the capital assessment process through data collation and workshop processes
- Advising on how to improve the rigour of risk framework operations and offering guidance on emerging industry best practice, as well as providing training to relevant stakeholders
- Contributing to risk projects by providing input and support to project activity and taking on ownership for the delivery of components within these, as and when required

Key Requirements:

- Ideally you will be a qualified actuary or have a relevant mathematical qualification
- You will be technically and analytically sound with experience of capital measurement with a strong understanding of operational risk measurement methodologies
- Experience of working within the financial services industry
- A current and in-depth working knowledge of regulatory requirements in relation to the financial services industry
- Familiarity with the impact of Solvency II on operational risk management and measurement practices, linked to a broad understanding of other specialist risk related fields
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently
- Excellent presentation and influencing skills, along with plenty of gravitas, high levels of commercial acumen and the ability to present at senior management level
