Dealership Accountant (London Retail Operation)

We have an exciting future ahead our parent company Zhejiang Geely Holding Group are investing GBP325m to manufacture a brand new range extended zero emission capable electric hybrid taxi which will be built in a brand new facility at Ansty Business Park in Coventry. The facility is the size of 8 football pitches and incorporates the latest construction and environmental technologies!

Reporting to - Director of Finance (dotted line to Retail General Manager)

Salary - up to GBP52,000 p.a. GBP400 p.m. car allowance and private medical insurance

Given our ambitious and exciting growth plans for the future we are looking for a Dealership Accountant to join the London Dealership team. We are looking for someone who has previous experience in either a local, regional or centralised motor dealership. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside a dynamic team of highly successful managers to help drive the business forward. This role comes with responsibility for a team of three (an Assistant Accountant and two Sales Administrators).

The role

The Dealership Accountant is responsible for financial accounting, MI and sales administration and providing key business partnering support to the senior management retail team. It reports to the Director of Finance with a dotted line into the Retail General Manager. The Dealership Accountant is a key member of the Retail Operations senior management team and will positively contribute to its profit delivery, growth and development objectives.

Role responsibilities

production and interpretation of timely and relevant MI
building a strong system of financial control within the Retail Operations division, including budgetary control, reconciliation, authorisation, physical and cash-handling controls
formalisation and recording (flowcharting) of process and procedure
chart of accounts maintenance and Kerridge system supervisor / super user
integration between Epicor and Kerridge
financial accounting, month-end close and group reporting to Geely (parent company)
preparation of budgets and forecasts
periodic stocktaking and maintenance of Used Vehicle Valuation Matrix
credit control
Compliance (Financial Conduct Authority; Stocking Loan administration / audit)
liaison with Geely internal and Mazars external audit
IT systems development
liaison with company funding providers and insurance brokers
project work
staff supervision, coaching, mentoring and development
business partnering to the senior retail management team

The person

Previous experience from a local, regional or centralised motor dealership accountancy background
Strong business-partnering experience and capability
Control costs and cash
Establish industry 'best practice' financial controls within the Dealership
Support the Retail Operations to make the right decisions
Ensure the Finance Team is operating effectively
Good communication skills
Ability to build strong and sustainable relationships
Can persuade, negotiate and challenge and influence others
Excellent organisational, analytical and decision making capability
Self-motivated, results orientated and team player
Strong project management capabilities and ability to work to deadlines
Commercial awareness and customer focus
Sound business acumen and judgement
Super User of Autoline V 8.35 (responsible for development and optimisation)
Expert in Excel and familiar with APAK
Professionally qualified or approaching qualified or qualified by experience with a thorough grasp of financial and management accounting
A good working knowledge of indirect taxation
Travel may be required to Coventry and Manchester
