Our Client, an established firm of Accountants based in Newport, has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Payroll Operative to join their team on a permanent basis.

Working within a small "hands on" and busy team, we are looking for an enthusiastic individual with the ability to work well under pressure. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate who has previous experience of working within a practice in a similar position.

The successful Payroll operative will be responsible for all aspects of payroll processing for a diverse range of Clients operating a combination of weekly/fortnightly/monthly payrolls.

Key tasks will include:

* Inputting new starters onto payroll system
* Obtaining and inputting tax code notifications (P9's)
* Inputting tax and student loan notifications from HMRC
* Processing timesheets
* Controlling and reconciling holiday pay accrual
* Processing deductions (e.g. childcare vouchers/SSP)
* Managing auto-enrolment requirements and responsibilities including maintaining requisite records.
* Checking payroll for accuracy
* Exporting payroll file following approval for BACs transfer
* Uploading/distributing payslips as required
* Reconciling RTI submission with payroll reports for HMRC filing
* Processing leavers and producing P45's
* Exporting payroll summaries and pension reports to clients
* Uploading payroll summaries and pension reports to relevant pension providers including NEST, Peoples Pension and NOW Pensions.
* Reconciling pension payments to the pension provider in a timely manner
* Completing timely HMRC filing in line with regulations
* Distributing P60's
* Acting as first point of contact for all client payroll queries
* Resolving any payroll queries/disputes directly with HMRC
* Undertaking reconciliation and management of monthly payments to HMRC and other government agencies e.g. Tax, NI, CSA etc.

Other duties/responsibilities:

* Undertake bookkeeping duties as allocated
* Assist with business administration

The successful candidate will:

* Have a minimum 1 year experience, relevant knowledge and understanding gained from within a similar role within a practice environment
* Must have previous payroll experience
* Have detailed working knowledge and experience with auto enrolment
* Have the ability to work effectively in a team environment and to process deadlines.
* Have high attention to detail and an orderly approach to processing.

The Payroll Operative will receive a starting salary of up to GBP20k depending on experience as well as having the opportunity to progress their career within our Clients successful business.
