FUNCTION: To visually inspect work activities throughout the life of the work (prior to, at the commencement of, during and after completion) by UK Power Networks and any of the Contractors working on behalf of UKPN. Reviewing areas of safety, pre-site inspection, site set up, signing lighting & guarding, reinstatement, site clear and defect inspections. Based in the London Region.

To ensure compliance with street works activities, processes, manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Document and report any areas of failure through the necessary channels to raise the level of onsite performance.

- Ensure high standard of safety management within area of responsibility
- Carry out daily street work site audits and performance monitoring of groundworks activities (record, analyse and trend issues arising)
- Undertake daily liaison with the parties involved with these activities ensuring that information is reported, logged and updated on all necessary systems
- Identify any safety related hazards onsite - rectify (where practicable), report and feedback to relevant parties
- Monitor and feedback on inspections undertaken by Local Authorities
- Attend Joint Site Meetings, Inspections and Coring meetings with Local

Authorities as required
- Carry out site investigations with contractors and Authorities for defects and over-runs
- Be a point of reference to the application of NRSWA, street works codes of practice and legislation to contractors and internal departments through field audits.
- Ensure high standards of customer service
- Ensure achievement of all performance standards
- Champion "Best In Class" activities for Street works
- Manage customer relationships with external stakeholders - Local Authorities, Highway Agencies, Contractors and other Statutory Undertakers
- Manage relationships with internal stakeholders - Network Operations, Powercare, Capital Programme, Connections and groundworks contractors to ensure performance improves
- Assist as required in training and coaching of streetworks material to internal and external stakeholders

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
- NRSWA Operative (preferable) & Supervisor (essential)
- Good Knowledge of NRSWA, TMA, and associated CoP
- IT literate
- Understanding of EToN, CCS
- Full UK Driving Licence

The following skills are not essential for the role but would be advantageous
- Experience of working on electricity network
- Sub-Station Entry

The Street Works Manager manages the street works performance across UK Power Networks within Powercare, Network Operations and reports to the Head of Powercare. The Street Works Auditor will report to a Performance Manager who directly reports to the Street Works Manager.
Key internal customers include Networks Operations, Capital Program, Connections, Asset Management and the Senior Management Teams. External customers include Local Authorities, Contractors and National Streetworks Bodies.

The Street Works Auditor is responsible for the auditing, rectification and reporting of Street Works onsite activities within an Area. A key focus for the Street Works Team is to develop and implement robust policies and procedures to effectively and efficiently manage all street works activities, with specific focus on Best In Class Performance, Section 74, FPN's, defects, lane rental and Training/Coaching.

The Street Works Auditor will develop relationships with Councils and Highway Authorities to help ensure current and future street work matters are managed effectively, with specific focus to users of the public highways.
He or she will be work closely with internal operational units and contractors. A key responsibility will be to ensure we maintain a high profile in terms of performance that creates a positive image with Councils, Highway Authorities, users of the public highways and within UK Power Networks.

In order to deliver this service effectively, a degree of flexibility is needed and the post holder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above. The post holder may be expected to work outside the usual hours of operation; this will be agreed in advance.

The person carrying out this role will be experienced in inspecting street works, ideally with a background in engineering (ideally with knowledge of jointing, fault location and cable laying), knowledge of excavation and reinstatement techniques, and an understanding of the New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) and the Traffic Management Act 2004 and the various Codes of Practice that support the legislation. He or she will demonstrate strong team working skills; the ability to make balanced business decisions, develop relationships with service providers and have excellent people management skills - including the confidence and stature to work alongside field staff and managers, as well as developing successful relationships with Local Authorities.
