Our client, the local Fire & Rescue Service in Central Bristol, is seeking an Administrative Assistant to join their Property Services Unit.

What will I be doing as an Administrator?
As Administrator Assistant your daily roles and responsibilities will include;

• Preparing well-presented and accurately typed letters, reports and documents
• Provide a reception service, dealing with telephone calls and personal callers to the office, together with answering routine enquiries and taking messages, etc, as appropriate.
• Maintain office filing systems & chase up outstanding invoices
• Undertaking general support duties such as placing orders with suppliers, arrange repair of faulty equipment
• Provide assistance to the Property Services staff as required, such as basic research and compiling/collating data for transmission to other Units, external consultants or to other organisation

What skills and experience will I need to apply?

• Must have 3 GCSE passes at Grade C or above (or equivalent) including English language, with relevant clerical/administrative experience
• Experience of word-processing, preferably MS Word, with a typing speed of at least 35 wpm and the ability to produce tables, charts and graphs is required
• Must be computer literate with experience of inputting and extracting data in various formats, preferably using Microsoft packages
• Have good organising skills and be able to maintain administrative systems
• Able to communicate effectively at all levels, internally and externally, with a confident telephone manner and be able to project an appropriate corporate image
• Have a good working knowledge of the Internet to undertake basic research
• Able to prioritise, work to deadlines and manage time effectively with minimal supervision
• Be an effective team worker and committed to customer care and satisfaction.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel is advantageous

This role will initially be based at our client’s Service Headquarters in Central Bristol however the decision has been made to relocate all Headquarters staff to Portishead.
Any job offer will therefore be conditional upon you accepting that your work base will alter from Central Bristol to Portishead. You will not be entitled to any relocation expenses as you are accepting the post on this basis. In the interim period there will be limited parking available at the Central Bristol site. During your employment you may be required to work at any Avon Fire & Rescue Service establishment.
