We are now recruiting a Financial Accounts Assistant to join our team of 260 highly-trained staff who help to give each resident the best care and the fullest life possible.

The Financial Accounts Assistant (as part of a wider team) is responsible for the day to day financial transactions of the organisation. This includes all aspects of the Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger and Payroll together with handling cash from donations and other sources.

The Financial Accounts Assistant will be responsible for the accurate inputting of all financial transactions and will support the Head of Finance in ensuring the integrity of the accounts. The post holder will carry out regular reconciliations and checks, promptly informing the Head of Finance of any anomalies/errors with regard to issues such as, for example, long term debts, billing queries and discrepancies.

The Financial Accounts Assistant will directly assist the Head of Finance by providing ad-hoc financial reports and information, as requested. The post holder will be required to work effectively with colleagues in the team and to operate with minimal day to day direction.

The Financial Accounts Assistant will support the Payroll Bureau in or carrying out the payroll function. The post holder will keep up-to-date with current legislation.

The Financial Accounts Assistant will help the Head of Finance review the Trial Balance at the end of each period and will investigate significant variances from the Budget or Forecast.

The Financial Accounts Assistant will assist Budget Holders in: (a) exploring new revenue-generating activities and (b) seeking better value for money from suppliers.


The Financial Accounts Assistant will be responsible for providing an excellent service to residents, their families and other visitors. The post holder must have good interpersonal skills and be able to work and communicate effectively with all staff, external partners and external parties.

Have extensive prior Accounting experience, hold a recognised bookkeeping qualification, must have or be working towards membership of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT)
