Athona Ltd operates as a Recruitment Consultancy supplying Temporary Workers to the Health, Medical and Education sectors. The role of Payroll Team Leader sits within the Finance Department and reports into the Finance Controller.

The Payroll Team Leader will be responsible for processing a weekly payroll for our temporary workers, managing the payroll process for one of the brands in the Athona Group payroll from end to end.

Whilst managing the Payroll team, the Payroll Team Leader will work proactively offering support to others in the department during peak periods.

Key Tasks / Responsibilities:

* Day to day management of the Payroll team including conducting appraisals and performance as appropriate.
* Overseeing and assisting payroll processing, supporting in manual inputs during peak times.
* Raising sales invoices and credit notes.
* Improving processes, procedures and control within the Payroll department.
* Nest pension administration.
* Reconciliation of PAYE and salary control accounts in the balance sheet.
* Producing accurate payroll reports within deadlines.
* Working with Managers in other departments to maintain and improve the payroll procedures and processes.
* Ad hoc duties as deemed reasonable to the company.

In order to be considered, you must have the following skills and experience:

* Proven track record of Payroll Management
* Up to date knowledge of HMRC legislation
* Systems knowledge of either Merit and/or Safe Tempest would be beneficial
* Strong knowledge of pension schemes and ideally RTI's
* The ability to work to tight deadlines
* Good numerical skills and attention to detail
* Good spoken and written communication skills
* Ability to work as a team as well as on your own initiative
* Excellent customer service
* Excellent telephone manner
* Organised and proactive approach to work
* Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
