Mobile Sales and Service Technician (Hydraulics)

Our client is a long-established global company who, since entering the UK marketplace in 1988, has grown to be the number one provider of fluid transfer solutions and on-site repairs. Specialising in hydraulic hoses, pipe fittings and couplings, they are looking for Mobile Sales and Service Technicians to cover the following counties: Suffolk, Essex, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, and Cambridgeshire.

The successful Mobile Sales and Service Technician will have a full UK driving licence and basic mechanical knowledge. Experience in a Technical / Engineering / Hydraulic environment is advantageous, but not essential due to full training being given.

Due to the nature of the role the successful field service engineer will be a confident communicator with excellent customer service skills with the ability to work alone, and manage your own workload.

Once appointed, the Field Sales and Service Technician will attend a two week induction and training program in Birmingham, this is Monday to Friday, with accommodation paid by our client.  The training program includes a City and Guild Level 2 certificate in Fluid Power Engineering.

The successful applicant will be working full time on a rota basis; this will include cover of one 24 hour on-call shift in every four week period.

Your duties as a Mobile Sales and Service Technician will include:

  • Attending any pending service breakdowns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensuring faults & general servicing are carried out and to a high standard.
  • Detailing faults with the client directly, updating the hand-held system as appropriate.
  • Maintaining sufficient stock levels in your vehicle.
  • Maintaining work equipment & vehicle in accordance with company policy.
  • Actively promoting products and services to new and existing clients throughout your given territory, referring new clients to the sales team.
  • Attending training courses as requested by management.

The ideal Field Service Engineer will possess the following skills and qualities:

  • Basic mechanical knowledge.
  • A ‘hands on’ approach.
  • Good written and verbal communicator with excellent customer service skills.
  • Able to work unsupervised and to time constraints.
  • To be professional and courteous at all times to colleagues and customers.

Salary and reward package: 

  • Competitive Salary based on Skill and Experience.
  • Uncapped commission structure with realistic on target earning for the role between £24-34k.
  • 20 days a year leave increasing by a day a year to a maximum of 25 after 5 years of service, plus statutory holidays.
