OBJECTIVE:

Development & Underwriting of Real Estate insurance risks within corporate guidelines.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF ROLL:

1. Promoting a professional image at all times within and outside the company, representing the business in an open and ethical manner
2. Personally complying with all internal and relevant external regulatory and legal requirements

Role Specific

1. Devising, implementing and managing key customer (broker) strategies to deliver new business, maximise retention of held business and develop new opportunities and products. This will include broker visits, on site underwriting surgeries, presentations to brokers, etc.
2. New business quotations, renewals and mid-term management of Commercial Property Owners, Blocks of Flats and Residential Lets including portfolios.
3. Underwriting referral point for Blocks of Flats and Residential Lets that are written via on line trading platform or via broker sub delegated agreements.
4. Audit of external customers who operate sub delegated agreements.
5. Managing and developing existing insurer relationships where necessary.
6. Production and analysis of management information to ensure profitability of business written including monitoring of claims to identify trends and aberrations and macro account analysis and management.
7. Ownership of the processing and administration of policies and risks where necessary.
8. Assisting claims handlers to validate claims / losses where necessary.
9. Collecting premium monies within terms of trade where necessary.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Experience At least 2 years experience of underwriting commercial and residential property owners insurance ideally in an MGA and/or broker environment
Understanding/experience of delegated authorities and internet trading

Education/Qualification
Educated to GCSE level including passes in English and Mathematics. Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute or commitment to study and pass within 3 years of joining or as otherwise agreed

Compliance

Evidence of a commitment to and track record of self development and training with previous employers by way of Record of Continual Professional Development

Evidence of good understanding of regulatory requirements including Treating Customers Fairly and Contract Certainty

SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Sound property owners insurance technical knowledge and commerciality
Ability to trade & negotiate with brokers
Communication skills - able to communicate with people at all levels over the telephone, in writing and in person including formal presentations
