Fibre Engineer - FTTP Business Installations

The main purpose of this role is to connect business customers to the Service Operators network and activate the service. A typical connection will require the installation of multi core optical fibre cable into the site and connection at the optical termination point. This would require the installation of cables in street ducts and through customer premises via the various cable management systems. Following the installation fusion splicing of the fibres in street joints will finish the connection ready for testing. The final stage will be to complete an OTDR test of the optical fibre connection, analyse the results and complete the associated test results pack.

Health and safety legislation forms a critical part of these works so Signing, lighting and guarding is essential to set up a safe working environment.

Key Requirements:

• Installation of optical fibre cables (both internal and external)
• Experience of using fusion splicing machines
• Proficient in the use of OTDR
• Competent in the analysis of OTDR test results
• Signing, lighting and guarding qualification
• Appreciation of NRSWA and its associated legislation and codes of practice
• Understanding of Health and Safety in the work place
• UK based role however travel and working away will be required

Salary: Negotiable
