Our client is a CQC registered non-emergency ambulance service providing transportation for NHS trust patients, transporting over 400,000 patients every year. They are currently recruiting for a Garage Operative to join their team. Reporting to the Garage Manager, this role requires a background in maintaining a large fleet of vehicles, including ambulances and cars.
Duties & Responsibilities:
??? Primary duties are the repair and maintenance of emergency and non emergency vehicles
??? Carries out and evaluates preventive maintenance schedules
??? Conducts repairs on brake, engine, electrical, fuel, hydraulic, transmission, ignition, air suspension systems exhaust, axle assemblies and related systems on all types of equipment
??? Can change and repair tyres on a range of vehicles
??? Report and record any unsafe practices, or workplace hazards
??? Ensure all incidents are promptly recorded

Candidate Requirements:
??? Basic understanding of motor vehicles and previous experience in a similar environment
??? Have a full UK manual driving licence with less than 6 points and be over 21 years of age for insurance purposes
??? Demonstrable experience of solving maintenance issues to a high standard
??? Able to remain calm under pressure and demonstrate common sense whilst making key decisions
??? Strong organisation skills and ability to multi task whilst under pressure
??? Proven ability to be flexible within an environment
??? Must have excellent attention to detail
??? Previous responsibility for the maintenance of a large, varied fleet
The salary for this position is negotiable depending on experience.
??? Overtime and on-call payments is payable for the position
??? 28 days holiday per year
??? Shift pattern is 8am until 5pm Monday to Friday 40 hours per week
??? Will be on the rota for out of hours breakdowns
