Associate Design Engineer

Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire

Salary: £25,000 to £28,000

B/E Aerospace, in Leighton Buzzard, is the sole supplier of galleys and trolley compartments for the Airbus A350.  Our business is rapidly expanding and ramping up as the new aircraft enters production and with the impact of this programme alone means that production rates will increase from typically one ship-set per month to 13 per month. This will be sustained for at least the next ten years, with further programmes expecting to be added to the portfolio.  If you want to be part of a major strategic programme, then this could be the opportunity for you.

We are looking for Graduate to join our interior structure design team as an Associate Design Engineer, in a position that will provide training and development in aspects of detailed design of Aircraft galleys.   This is a rare opportunity within the aerospace sector to be involved with the product from the concept design phase through to full certification and installation on the aircraft.

Specifically this role is responsible for:

  • Working within a design team developing new innovative solutions for aircraft interior structures focusing on BOM costs, manufacturing hours, weight reduction as well as providing the customer with robust ergonomic and aesthetic units, compliant to all appropriate customer and airworthiness requirements
  • Raise the appropriate paperwork to support any design changes.  This will include modifying existing designs and create new designs / 3D data
  • Use of Unigraphics 3D or CATIA v5 software and the generation of engineering change notes
  • The creation of service bulletins
  • Providing shop floor engineering support
  • Any other reasonable duties

We are looking for candidates who hold an Engineering degree or ONC/HNC in an electrical design related field and the following:

  • Excellent report writing and communication skills
  • Good knowledge Microsoft Office Suite, esp. Word and Excel
  • Finite Element modelling experience preferable but not essential
  • Driven, adaptable, go getter, not afraid to get stuck in, dynamic.
  • Undergraduate Placements/previous work experience in an engineering field is an advantage
