This is a newly created Senior Management position to coincide with the company’s exciting growth strategy. You will already know the UK’s key fleets and repairers and you will have an impeccable track record of growing sales and motivating your teams. You must reside within a 45 minute commute of Leeds.  An outstanding and negotiable salary package is available to the right candidate.

Key Aims

Improve the Company’s market position and achieve financial growth in line with agreed targets. Define long-term strategic goals, build key customer relationships, identify business opportunities, negotiate and close business deals and maintain extensive knowledge of current market conditions. Work with the marketing department and other managers to increase sales opportunities and maximise revenue. Develop and maintain highly motivated sales teams (internal and external). Provide service levels that exceed customer expectations.

You would:

  • Achieve or exceed key Performance Indicators
  • Manage & develop our Regional Sales Managers
  • Be a great role model to subordinates and colleagues
  • Manage underperforming team members
  • Present business development training and mentoring to your team
  • Research and develop a thorough understanding of your team and their capabilities
  • Present objectives & staff performance reviews to Line Manager at agreed intervals
  • Arrange meaningful & timely sales meetings
  • Conduct field workouts with FSC’s at appropriate times
  • Ensure all team members represent the company in the best light
  • Identify training needs
  • Be involved in the recruitment process
  • Have knowledge of, and ensure that systems and procedures are in place, to deal effectively with all departmental procedures – Internal Sales
  • Have knowledge of, and ensure that systems and procedures are in place, to deal effectively with all procedures – FSC’s
    • Customers
    • Product ranges
    • Pricing structure
    • Management Information Systems (MIS) and analyse results in a timely manner
    • Service monitoring tool (CSS) and analyse results in a timely manner
  • Ensure that teams maximise sales opportunities in the following areas from the Company’s existing database:
    • Dormant accounts
    • Lapsed accounts
    • Lapsing accounts
    • Existing accounts with potential to increase sales
    • New prospects
    • Exploit sales opportunities throughout ALL of the Company’s product ranges
    • Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales
    • Using knowledge of the market and competitors; identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators
      • Embrace change and exploit new technology to grow sales and or improve customer service
      • Exceed customer expectations by continually reviewing our strategy and procedures
      • Introduce effective audit procedures to ensure that essential procedures and protocol are being adhered to
  • Implement incentive schemes for sales teams that are achievable, motivational and will grow sales and profitability. Forecast sales targets and ensure they are met
  • Track and record activity on accounts and help your teams to close deals to meet these targets
  • Portray a good understanding of the Company’s: -
  • Ensure that teams maximise sales opportunities to prospects not currently held on the Company’s database ie cold calling
  • Exploit sales opportunities through the Company’s marketing campaigns. Be knowledgeable and supportive of all marketing initiatives
  • Regularly provide an analysis of the business your teams have generated
  • Implement effective & timely administrative procedures to allow recording & retrieval of key information eg expenses, customer visits & business generated, etc
  • Provide accurate & timely feedback on competitor/market activities
  • Prepare for & attend structured meetings as required
  • Collaborate with other department heads to address key business issues and exploit opportunities to grow sales
  • Prepare & attend trade exhibitions as required

The ideal Senior Business Development Manager will hold the following skills and experiences:

  • Experience within the parts aftermarket of the automotive industry
  • Staff management experience
  • Sales and Management experience at a similar level
  • Excellent levels of IT, literacy and numeracy
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A Polite and courteous manner
