Salary £25,000 - £30,000 Depending Upon Experience

BE Aerospace in Leighton Buzzard are the sole supplier of galleys and trolley compartments for the Airbus A350.  Our business is rapidly expanding and ramping up as the new aircraft enters production and with the impact of this programme alone means that production rates will increase from typically one ship-set per month to 13 per month. This will be sustained for at least the next ten years, with further programmes expecting to be added to the portfolio.  If you want to be part of a major strategic programme, then this could be the opportunity for you.

Nature of work:

  • Create new items / assemblies / routings / BoMs within JDE / Agile / Team Centre databases from data supplied by Design Engineering incorporating the latest knowledge of current machines, technology, set-up and run processes and timings
  • Maintain databases by implementing changes supported by recognized documentation control systems.
  • Estimate parts with appropriate challenge & feedback to internal stakeholders in a timely manner to meet end customer requirements
  • Work in conjunction with Sales, Customer Services, Program Management, Purchasing and Finance to support customer order / quotation requests to tight and aggressive deadlines in a dynamic cost estimating environment.
  • Administer the Change Control Board (CCB) For the structures AM & OEM business.
  • Obtaining price and lead-time data from the approved supplier base and updating current database systems to reflect the quotation.
  • Understand Engineering Design procedures to support Product Data Management
  • Work with accuracy in various Branch Plants within JD Edward’s database
  • Regularly review and maintain standard costs to achieve the most competitive cost and price.
  • Collate, analyse and interrogate performance data to assess process efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Any other reasonable duties

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The suitable candidate will have a strong commercial, manufacturing, engineering and continuous improvement background gained in a low to medium volume manufacturing environment. BTEC Diploma or higher in Engineering related subject (Or Equivalent):

  • Proven and relevant cost estimating experience either specialising in manufactured parts, purchased parts or ideally both
  • Full understanding of multi-level BoM structures, Solid background in machined components
  • Knowledge of assembly stages & methods
  • Using Integrated systems and MRP/ERPs and Strong Excel and Database desired
