Procurement Manager / Purchasing Manager

About us

SALUS is an engineering design and brand distribution company providing energy control solutions throughout Europe.

We are looking to recruit an experienced Procurement Manager / Purchasing Manager to work at our site in South Yorkshire.  The successful candidate will report to the European Managing Director and be part of the senior management team. 

The position is a permanent contract and a competitive salary is offered to the right candidate.

Duties of the Procurement Manager/Purchasing Manager

  • Focus the senior management team on key areas of purchasing opportunity and risk
  • Secure competitive advantage through sourcing better quality/better priced materials
  • Lead the implementation of better, efficient purchasing strategies and systems
  • Procurement of materials and services from global suppliers
  • Supplier negotiation and relationship management
  • Forecasting on cost saving
  • Work with Finance to ensure we use and report on the latest accurate, correctly priced material volumes and values
  • Managing the day-to-day international operation of imports from Hong Kong
  • Stock forecasts for UK/EE
  • Ensuring reporting deadlines are met and checking /submitting activity and volume reports
  • Planning and organising resources against shipping and despatch schedules
  • Liaise with internal and external parties to ensure the logistics function can support new business ahead of contract completion
  • Using initiative to develop effective solutions to challenges in export activity and procedures
  • Resolving queries on export related topics and issues relating to the movement of goods through Customs
  • Any ad hoc work required

Requirements of the Procurement Manager/Purchasing Manager

  • A proven track record of procurement and management experience (essential)
  • Familiarity with operations/manufacturing processes and technologies (essential)
  • Ability to understand and influence key financial purchasing issues and senior team members
  • Knowledge of the key market commodities, the processes and major suppliers
  • Ability to explain, present and influence in a clear, concise and consistent manner
  • Ability to plan and prioritise to achieve deadlines
  • Ability to make difficult decisions
