We are looking for people with a huge heart who are caring and compassionate, to join our team of Part Time Paid Volunteers and Companions to support our clients in the Southampton area. Our clients mainly need us in the morning to help them get ready for the day ahead as well as evening routine.

To be a Paid Volunteer & Companion for Queen’s Award winning Home Instead Senior Care you will be a car driver and live within areas of Southampton, from SO15 through to SO31 or PO15. You should also:

  • Be caring, compassionate and want to be a great companion to an older person
  • Be looking for part time hours between 10 – 20 hours per week (say three or four hours a day and you won’t need to work every day either
  • Be willing to work a few hours on alternate weekends so your clients get to see you regularly

Unfortunately, we cannot offer just school hours as our clients need us at their peak times and throughout the year.

We carefully choose our Companions; after all it takes a special person to look after one of your loved ones.  Your job will involve supporting several of our clients and this may also include some personal care (assisting to the shower, washing hair), however the majority of our clients require companionship and help with everyday tasks.  We provide full training and all the support you’ll need.


£8.40– £17.40 per hour (Bank Holidays) PLUS holiday pay. This equates to approximately £9.41 - £19.50 per hour

You will spend a minimum of one hour with your allocated client/s, if not longer and receive all the support you need.
