Role Overview
This consultancy are looking for a seasoned IT Project Manager to join their team working on-site with their global client to deliver a broad range of data centre/infrastructure projects. You should have a strong technical background, be comfortable talking technology and fully understand E2E service design and infrastructure delivery. It is essential that you have previous experience of data centre/infrastructure delivery. You should have a strong understanding and extensive experience of project management processes and activities to help you drive through the project delivery successfully.
You will need to quickly establish yourself as the authority on the project and give total confidence that the project under your control is being well managed and running to both plan and budget.
This role requires a calm and charismatic person who has the ability to work with teams of engineers as well as being confident to present in front of senior stakeholders. They are looking for a succinct communicator who is skilled at building and maintaining strong relationships with customers.
You should be a self-starter who can drive the project and guide members of project teams through any resistance from business units with tact. You are pedantic when it comes to documentation and your project plans, so everything delivered is accurate and consumable.
Stakeholder management is key - you will drive the governance strategy and produce outstanding project updates and communications.
Key Accountabilities
- Be the Infrastructure Project Manager
- Create and own the project plans and manage risks, issues and dependencies
- Provide regular reporting on progress to senior stakeholders
- Matrix manage a team of architects and technical staff
- Engage with other delivery teams across the organisation as required
- Run workshops and meetings guiding the team as required
- Secure and maintain strong relationships with customers
- Deliver the project within budget and on time
Ideal Technical/Professional Skills (ideally would have certifications)
- 10+ years project management experience
- 5+ years data centre/infrastructure project delivery experience essential
- Strong understanding of E2E service design and infrastructure delivery
- Strong technical understanding of networking and server principles
- Good knowledge of Active Directory
- Operation support model design and delivery experience
- In-depth knowledge of IT and Data Centre process standards including knowledge of ITIL Service Management practices
- Strong risk & issue management skills
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Cost estimation and finance management experience
- Experience working within Agile delivery organisations is preferred
- Microsoft Project / Office technically proficient / skilled
- Ideally you have come from a data centre/networking technical background.
- Ideally PMP and/or PRINCE2 certified
