Santos nursery is a new independent nursery due to open in January 2017 in the Great Barr area, offering full day care for children aged 6 week to 5 years. The management role will entail providing high quality, flexible childcare to families and the local community, 5 days per week, 51 weeks per year.

The Nursery Manager will be responsible for all aspects of day to day running, staff management and ensuring the general operation of the day nursery is maintained at its highest standards whilst adhering to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Ofsted’s legal requirements.

Main Responsibilities:

To work alongside the Director in the start up process of paperwork and marketing to allow the nursery to reach maximum occupancy and high standards.

To be responsible for and oversee the day to day management of staffing, general organisation, including staff recruitment and training to ensure the smooth running of the nursery.

To communicate effectively with staff, parents, children and other agencies in a professional manner.

To ensure the transition of new/current children is smooth and informative for both sides.

To review develop and update appropriate policies and procedures, in accordance with changes in operation and legislation in an active and timely manner.

To ensure all health and safety including fire safety practices are monitored and adhered to at all times.

To support staff within the setting by undertaking regular staff supervision sessions and providing opportunities for continuous professional development.

To produce and monitor data in accordance with local authority and Ofsted requirements ensuring that children’s progression is evident.

To ensure staff knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is continually developed and observations, assessment and planning are appropriate to the age and stage of children’s development and logged in accordance with the nurseries software system.

To be responsible at all times for high standards of care and education of children in accordance with statutory requirement.

To work in partnership and effectively liaise with support agencies/ organisations ensuring the needs of the children and their families are paramount.

To ensure the safety and dignity of children is upheld at all times.

To log and monitor the progression of children and ensure they reach their highest potential and to take action when not being met.

To be responsible for nursery admissions in line with the admissions policy, identifying and monitoring occupancy levels to ensure sustainability of the provision.

To ensure registers and children’s records are updated by staff and regular feedback is provided to parents about their child’s development and progress.

To conduct regular parents evenings and ensure the smooth transition of them.

To develop and oversee daily, weekly activities and room plans for each age range.

To effectively manage and oversee each room/age range to ensure its maximum efficiency is being met and children learning goals are being achieved.

Consistently meeting legislative requirements and following education curriculum, delivering standards to ensure highest possible inspection grading.

Be responsible for the creation and updating of nursery policies and procedures.

To promote a successful and profitable business, engaging with the local community and marketing the nursery to reach maximum occupancy whilst providing excellent customer care.

Experience:

A full and relevant minimum of level 3 qualification in childcare or above and in a current Manager/deputy manager role for a minimum of 12 months.
