Process Operator

Are you experienced in operating machinery within a manufacturing / heavy engineering environment and would welcome the opportunity to be part of a busy team within a well-established business? Due to an increase in workload an opportunity has arisen to join Calder Industrial Materials in the unique heavy engineering environment, initially on a 3 month fixed term contract although there is potential that this may be extended.

Calder is one of the UK’s leading building materials suppliers, delivering lead sheet and a wide range of ancillary products to builders’ merchants nationwide. In addition, Calder are also the UK’s leading specialist in lead engineering. The company designs, manufactures and installs radiation shielding and other products in the nuclear, medical and other markets.

As a Process Operator working as part of a wider team, you’ll carry out the production of the manufacturing process on a designated production cell to enable and control the following;

  • Achieve the production targets set for the department on a daily basis
  • Highlight and communicate any minor faults which may arise which may cause delay to production
  • Ensure all operating conditions are correct before commencing manufacture
  • Ensure the work area is kept clean and safe at all times
  • Maintain accurate records of production, and any other operational data as requested by the Team Leader
  • Promote and adhere to the company’s quality system at all times

To be considered for this Process Operator role you MUST have the following experience, skills, and attributes;

  • Previous experience operating machinery within a manufacturing / heavy engineering environment
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Flexible towards tasks with a can do attitude
  • Strong work ethic, reliable and committed
  • 5 GCSE’s

In return;

Full training will be given for the individual production cells within Calder.

Salary:                          £8.88 per hour equivalent to £16,623 per annum pro rata, rising to £9.91 equivalent to £18,551 if the fixed term contract extended beyond initial 3 month period.

Hours:                          36 hours per week. Usually 7:00am – 4.30pm Monday to Thursday, however flexibility is required to work shifts as and when business needs arise.

Contract Type:              Fixed term contract initially for 3 months, although there is potential for this to be extended.
