NHS Nottingham West Clinical Commissioning Group was established in April 2013 as an NHS statutory body. The CCG puts local GPs and healthcare professionals at the forefront of commissioning services for local people. We now have an exciting opportunity for two Lay Members to play an important part in shaping and developing the CCG.

Lay Member on the Governing Body

The role of a lay member is to:

• Ensure the Governing Body and the wider CCG acts in the best interests with regard to the health of the local population at all times.
• Ensure the interests of patients and the community remain at the heart of
discussions and decisions.
• Ensure the Governing Body and the wider CCG behaves with the upmost
probity at all times.
• Bring an independent view to the work of the CCG that is removed from the day-to-day running of the organisation.

In addition to the membership of the Governing Body the Lay Member appointed will be a member of a number of committees, including chairing the CCG Finance and Performance Committee. You will be expected to bring their commercial and business acumen to the governing body to assist it considering the complex arrangements that the CCG deals with relating to commissioning healthcare.

This will include skills in understanding, and dealing with, conflicts of interest and effective governance.

The time commitment for both roles is approximately 2.5 days per month.

The remuneration for the Public and Patient Involvement and Deputy Chair role is £10,800 per annum and for the Governing Body role it is £6,157 per annum.

Some time commitment may be required in the evenings.
