LOCATION: Newark, Nottinghamshire (Opportunities available in Worksop, Fledborough and Kneesall areas)

JOB TITLE: Residential Care Worker

SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary Range GBP17,161 to GBP20,858 - Dependent on position, experience and relevant qualification + sleeping in duties at GBP32.94

WORKING HOURS: 39 hours per week - on a rota system and including evening and weekend work

THE COMPANY: Our client has established homes in Kent and the Midlands and are now expanding their provision opening new homes nationally and new opportunities are now available for Residential Care Workers in Worksop, Fledborough and Kneesall areas.

Your role of a Residential Care Worker will be to support the learning, emotional and social needs of children/young people within a class group setting or residential home. The Residential Worker will be required to participate in recording, monitoring and evaluating individual child strategies/support.

Key Responsibilities of a Residential Care Worker to include:-

• To provide support on a shift work basis to a group of vulnerable young people who require high levels of supervision and support
• To offer a caring, supportive and stable environment for the young people
• Be committed to the young people's wellbeing and act as a positive role model
• Develop and sustain effective working relationships with the local community, colleagues and other agencies so as to promote collaborative working and partnerships
• Be responsible for ensuring that the standard of care is at the highest in relation to the young people's physical, behavioural and emotional needs
• Assist and take part in activities in the home and outdoors
• Contribute to the effective physical, social and emotional environment to provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating atmosphere and help the young people build their confidence, self-esteem and essential life skills
• To write reports, behaviour management & care plans

THE CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate will have sound communication skills and be able to work within a team providing outstanding care. An understanding of how their own actions can affect those around them. You will bring your skills and enthusiasm to set boundaries, challenge unacceptable behaviour and be a role model to provide an environment in which the young people feel safe and supported. The successful Residential Care Worker will be approachable, have a good sense of humour with a caring nature.

Key experience/competencies essential for the role of Residential Care Worker based near Newark:

• A full UK driving licence
• The Diploma Level 3 in Children and Young People Workforce, or equivalent, or willingness to complete
• Previous experience of working in a children's home, preferably within an EBD Setting/or experience supporting children and young people who have challenging behaviour and complex needs
• Knowledge of the importance of protecting vulnerable young people and an understanding of the impact trauma can have on a child's life
• The ability to be flexible with working hours
• Sound communication skills and be able to work within a team providing outstanding care
• An understanding of how their own actions can affect those around them
• Have the skills and enthusiasm to set boundaries, challenge unacceptable behaviour and be a role model to provide an environment in which the young people feel safe and supported
