LOCATION: Newark, Nottinghamshire (Opportunities available in Worksop, Fledborough and Kneesall areas)

JOB TITLE: Senior Residential Care Worker

SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary Range GBP23,708 to GBP26,276 - Dependent on position, experience and relevant qualification + sleeping in duties at GBP32.94

WORKING HOURS: 39 hours per week - on a rota system and including evening and weekend work

THE COMPANY: Our client has established homes in Kent and the Midlands and are now expanding their provision opening new homes nationally and new opportunities are now available for Residential Care Workers in Worksop, Fledborough and Kneesall areas.

THE ROLE: The Senior Residential Care Worker will have responsibility for leading a team and managing resources to meet children's Day to Day education and care needs. However, the job or duties described may vary or be amended from time to time without changing the level of responsibility associated with the post.

Key Responsibilities of a Senior Residential Care Worker to include:-

• To act in the absence of the Registered Manager/Deputy Registered Managers, to ensure staff work in accordance with the home's Statement of Purpose and other associated duties of management.
• Under the guidance of the Registered Manager/Deputy Registered Managers, be responsible for the implementation of Local Authority Child Protection Procedures and Foundation policies on safeguarding the welfare of children and young people.
• To ensure work is evidenced in the home's organisational log books and children/young people's individual files/logs in line with National Minimum Standards and Ofsted requirements.
• To assist management to develop the home/school and its environment ensuring that the highest standards of care prevail for each individual child/young person, within the guidelines of the Foundation's stated model of care.
• To ensure children/young people receive appropriate assessment periods, according to the home's Statement of Purpose. To ensure children/young people facing particular crises and stresses are offered appropriate additional support.

THE CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate will have at least 18 months experience of working with children and young people in a residential setting. They will also ideally have a minimum of 1-years' experience of staff supervision with experience of leading children and groups.

Key experience/competencies essential for the role of Senior Residential Care Worker based near Newark:

• A full UK driving licence
• The Diploma Level 3 in Children and Young People Workforce, or equivalent is essential.
• Previous experience of working in a children's home, preferably within an EBD Setting/or experience supporting children and young people who have challenging behaviour and complex needs
• Knowledge of the importance of protecting vulnerable young people and an understanding of the impact trauma can have on a child's life
• The ability to be flexible with working hours
• Sound communication skills and be able to work within a team providing outstanding care
• Good communication skills (written and oral)
• A strong commitment to Equality and Diversity for staff and children and young people
• Ability to develop and maintain links with colleagues and liaise with other agencies.
