Assistant Commercial Manager - circa £28k

Working closely with the General Manager, Commercial leads and Operations teams, First Cymru are looking to appoint an Assistant Commercial Manager.

With a flexible approach to work, the Assistant Commercial Manager will ensure business development opportunities are realised and the commercial department achieve the highest possible standards of outputs.

Undertaking responsibilities such as liaising with local authorities, depot management and other agencies with regards to roadworks and events; as well as investigating certain complaints, the Assistant Commercial Manager will need excellent attention to detail, an ability to meet tight deadlines and a high standard of both oral and written communication skills.

Working 39 hours per week, the Assistant Commercial Manager will be joining on a competitive salary and generous benefits package, including free bus travel, discounted train travel, access to a pension scheme and discounted prices at a wide range of retailers. 

Basic Purpose of the Role

To work closely with the General Manager, Commercial leads and Operations teams to ensure that business development opportunities are realised and the highest possible standards of output from the commercial department are attained and business critical systems are managed where required.

Main Responsibilities

  • Preparation of tender and contract documentation to good standard of accuracy and quality
  • Co-ordination of punctuality monitoring system
  • Co-ordination of competition monitoring
  • Investigation of certain complaints, liaising with Customer Services and writing reports for as required.
  • Participate in pro-active and reactive management of social media platforms
  • Assist the General Manager in identifying new business opportunities.
  • Production and analysis of historical business data and preparation of business cases.
  • Liaison with local authorities, depot management and other agencies with regards to roadworks and events, including route planning, creation and display of ad-hoc publicity and internal staff communications in support of Marketing Manager.
  • Assist the Network Planner with service changes including preparation of route registration documents and the creation of duty boards and working timetables
  • Support the management and administration of ticket machines
  • Assists with general fares and product analysis
  • Customer liaison including, but not limited to, attendance at customer panel (often out of office hours), on line events, in person customer events
  • Provide overall general support to General Manager

Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required

  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills both written and oral.
  • Flexible approach to working hours according to the needs of the business.
  • Ability to work from own initiative or under instruction.
  • Able to gain confidence and respect of staff and business stakeholders

Desirable

  • Knowledge of bus industry computer software such as scheduling packages and Real Time Information systems.
  • Experience of timetable, crew duty scheduling and rota construction.
  • Hold a driving licence
