Commercial Manager - circa. £35k

We are looking for a team orientated and dynamic individual to be the lead for all First Cymru Buses commercial activities and initiatives. Working with both the UK Bus Commercial Team and external contacts, including local authorities and other major organisations, the Commercial Manager will ensure First Cymru is fully included in transport solutions within our operating areas.

With a strong commercial acumen, as well as financial awareness, the Commercial Manager will play a key role in ensuring both customer and profit growth for First Cymru.

Working 39 hours per week, the Commercial Manager will be joining on a competitive salary and generous benefits package, including free bus travel, discounted train travel, access to a pension scheme and discounted prices at a wide range of retailers.

Basic Purpose of Role

  • To support the achievement of the First UK Bus Strategy and ‘Better Journeys for Life' Promise.
  • To be business lead for all commercial activity and initiatives within First Cymru, and be driving force for the department to deliver the commercial strategy, budget and 5-year business plan.
  • Team orientated and dynamic leader, bringing strong commercial acumen and financial awareness to the business to ensure sound commercial decisions are made across all of First Cymru.
  • Profit and customer volume growth within First Cymru, maximising new commercial, tendered and contract opportunities delivered by working very closely with Assistant General Managers.
  • To work closely with external organisations including local authorities, and other major organisations to ensure First is fully included in transport planning solutions and decisions within our operating territory.
  • Leading the commercial team with a Network Planner
  • Work with the wider team on marketing, network, ticketing and pricing activities to deliver sustainable profitable and customer volume growth for short term (budget), and long term (5-year plan).
  • To work in conjunction with the UK Bus Commercial Team on nationally led initiatives but to be responsible for local delivery.
  • To work cooperatively with the Finance Team for both financial and non-financial analysis purposes.
