Description of the job
Joining an Airbus Apprenticeship programme could be the ideal start to your career, just as it has been for many of our Senior Managers today. We consider our apprentices to be ideally qualified, with the necessary skills, knowledge and experience to enable them to make an immediate contribution when they enter the workforce.
All our Apprenticeship programmes are around three to four years in duration and are undertaken at Airbus' UK sites and at our
partnership colleges and universities.
Tasks
A Technical Data apprenticeship offers you the opportunity to acquire skills on a broad range of technical subjects related to commercial aircraft maintenance and operation. This will be achieved by working in various teams creating the technical manuals linked to the wings, landing gear and fuel systems of all Airbus products.
This department is part of Airbus Customer Service which is responsible for supporting the growing fleet of in-service aircraft. This involves answering airline queries and interacting with other departments in Airbus.
Technical Data converts engineering source data into instructions for an airline to safely maintain their aircraft in line with airworthiness authority directives. Much of our work is subcontracted and therefore we also manage the workload and deliverables from our subcontractor partners.
The apprenticeship will combine on-the-job work experience, with time at college, in the first year working to achieve a Level 2 Foundation course, learning about engineering operations, whilst achieving a number of technical certificates and company required qualifications. You will then study towards NVQ Level 3, as well as a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering.
Skills
To apply, you must have minimum of:
¤ Six GCSEs at grade C or above including English Language, Maths and Double Science. If Science qualification was taken as
single subjects, one of these must be Physics.
¤ Alternatively you must have 4 GCSEs at grade C or above including English Language, Maths, Double Science and an
Engineering BTEC. If Science qualification was taken as single subjects, one of these must be Physics.
You will also need to demonstrate the following skills within your application:
¤ Computer literate.
¤ Enthusiasm to learn and an interest in problem solving
¤ Self-motivated
¤ Excellent communication skills
¤ Excellent attention to detail, able to work methodically and with precision
¤ Ability to work both independently and as a proactive team player
Please note that you must also include a cover letter as part of your application for this programme which demonstrates your
interest in aerospace and motivation to join the apprenticeship programme.
