We have a new exciting opportunity at Forest Heath District Council & St Edmundsbury Borough Council for a Finance Business Partner to join our team. The successful candidate will join us on a full time, permanent basis working 37 hours per week and will receive a competitive salary of £30,480 - £32,164 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. Salary potential of up to £36,019 through annual Performance Review awards. You will be expected to work across both our offices based in Bury St Edmunds and Mildenhall.

About the Finance Business Partner role

This is a great opportunity to join our Finance team as a Business Partner supporting the transactional and regulatory/technical accounting side of the service. The Finance and Performance team supports the councils strategically through Business Partnering combined with statutory and transactional accounting responsibilities.

You will be expected to apply your expertise to complex areas of the service including capital accounting, service/system development projects and support the Transactional & Regulatory Services Team Leaders in the development of their functions.

This is a fantastic career opportunity for a newly CCAB qualified accountant or CCAB finalist.  It will suit someone with energy, flexibility and a great attention to detail.

What you’ll be doing as our Finance Business Partner

This is an exciting role that offers the opportunity for the successful candidate to work across various accounting aspects of local government finance.

Working within the Transactional & Regulatory Services team of the finance department, this role will involve:

- deputising for the Senior Business Partner

- administering the Council’s capital accounting requirements

- leading on the development of the council’s Finance IT system, including delivery of system upgrades, developments and changes

- providing support and assistance to the Senior Business Partner (TRS) on transactional service projects, procurement exercises and service improvements

- working with the TRS Team Leaders on projects and system developments that affect their teams, provide support and guidance to these Team Leaders as and when required

What we’re looking for in our Finance Business Partner

- a CCAB qualified accountant or CCAB finalist;

- experience of capital accounting;

- experience of using computerised accounting systems;

- advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel;

- an analytical approach with excellent attention to detail;

- good organisational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;

- a proactive approach to problem solving.

The successful candidate will also have excellent interpersonal skills, comfortable managing a number of diverse projects and responsibilities, work proactively under own initiative and able to act as an effective deputy to the Senior Business Partner.
