A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a qualified and experienced Food Hygiene Manager to join an established food manufacturing company which specialises in manufacturing great tasting, high quality bakery products. Based in South Wigston, Leicester, the successful candidate will work on a temporary basis earning a competitive salary, depending on experience.

The company prides itself on providing a range of premium quality of all ambient and wrapped products which all have a BRC accreditation and great shelf lives. As a Food Hygiene Manager your core duties and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
- Reviewing existing practices and the recommendation and implementation of new procedures as appropriate
- Setting hygiene requirements in order to achieve customer requirements and continuously improve the function on site
- Implementing strategy and quality as well as hygiene innovation to ensure a service that supports the manufacturing process
- Ensuring cleaning operations are conducted in compliance with specifications, meeting cost, quality, productivity and H&S targets
- Ensuring that the entire site is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and manager housekeeping both internally and externally within the manufacturing and office facilities
- Improving and implementing processes to maintain the environment management systems, manage the waste, disposal, recycling and effluent treatment process and facilities, ensure compliance to all relevant environmental legislation
- Developing an improved environmental and site hygiene audit system with processes set up in place to be maintained, maximise the efficiency of all cleaning operations and train, motivate and manage the team
- Continuously monitor, audit and review the unit’s performance in order to identify areas for improvement and to also ensure all hygiene activities are delivered correctly
To be considered for this role, proven hygiene management in the food manufacturing sector is essential. In addition, you must possess the following key skills and experience:
- You will possess a solid track record of working in the food manufacturing industry within a technical/hygiene capacity plus preferably possess blue chip experience and a strong environmental understanding
- Experience of leading a hygiene team within a food manufacturing environment
- Ideally hold a relevant qualifications including NEBOSH, hygienic design and environmental management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Robust knowledge of a range of retail standards and BRC and have a good working knowledge of micro standards and current technical legislation
- Able to show a track record of delivering improvement, effective management and resolution of related issues
- Able to lead a team is crucial
