Bursar, Independent School in Leamington Spa, £25,000

The Company:

We are an Independent School located in the heart of Leamington Spa, Warwickshire and established in 1864.  We deliver a bespoke learning experience to unlock the talents and potential of each and every child that comes through our doors. 

We are now looking for Bursar to take responsibility for the financial growth of the school, this role represents an exciting and unique opportunity for a dynamic and inspirational individual with strong motivation and communication skills.  Previous experience as a bursar would be of benefit to this role. 

Bursar Main Duties:

• Assist the School Business Manager and Head of School in the production of a school wide budget, liaising with key personnel to obtain expenditure requirements
• Produce reports monitoring income and expenditure against budgets as requested
• Process payroll and pension-related functions for all members of staff.
• Bank reconciliation
• Produce month and year end accounts, with clear profiling and variances to spend identified
• Ensure all income and expenditure is correctly reported against agreed cost centres
• Management of childcare vouchers scheme
• Processing of petty cash and maintaining records
• Processing of payments received for school trips and events
• General administrative functions as and when required

Bursar Necessary Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

• Qualification in finance/accounting
• IT Literate with knowledge in the use of Microsoft office
• Highly organised, self-motivated and able to work independently
• Experienced in dealing with varied and conflicting work demands
• Able to main confidentiality in all matters with an understanding of data protection policy.
• A willingness to take on additional training
• Experience working in a school finance department would be desirable however is not essential.
