Myers Group has an opportunity for a Procurement Manager to join the team at their head office in Huddersfield. We are offering a highly competitive salary and excellent benefits.

Myers Group is a progressive family owned business based in Huddersfield, providing building products and services throughout Yorkshire.

As the Procurement Manager you will have responsibility for optimising the control of procurement negotiation activities across the Group and ensuring best value is achieved for all goods purchased whilst ensuring any risk related to products, goods and services is minimised.

Key responsibilities  of our Procurement Manager:

- Provide an appropriate level of buying/negotiation/procurement expertise across Group businesses.

- Provide leadership, direction and vision with regards to purchasing to support achievement of business goals.

- Determine the procurement process and ensure service delivery efficiencies, cost reduction, value for money and collaboration whilst maintaining and improving quality of services and goods.

- Develop and implement procurement strategy, policy and procedures to drive out purchasing inefficiencies.

- Manage the day to day relationship with the Buying Group of which Myers Building Supplies is a member whilst contributing to the ongoing activities of the Buying Group as a whole.

- Work across the business to ensure that spend is controlled appropriately. Identify and forge relationships with high spend departments and report on controlled vs non-controlled spend as well as savings achieved.

- Conduct Supplier Relationship Management and Supplier Performance Management to gain maximum value through procurement relationships.

- Maintain a library of tender documentation and react timely to ensure business objectives are supported.

- Identify and categorise areas of spend ensuring efficient use of departmental resources to drive best value for the business.

- Ensure legally sound and commercially robust contracts are in place and encourage adherence to contract.

- Collaborate with Building Supplies stock control and other department managers to ensure procurement activity is aligned to business objectives and the attainment of financial results.

- Ensure appropriate credentials for all suppliers and manage a supplier approval process to minimise risk.

- Oversee all complex or high risk procurement activities. Assist and guide in evaluation of tender responses and supplier selection.

- Operate at strategic level to identify and deliver substantial cost savings.

To become our Procurement Manager you must have the following skills, experience and attributes:

- Preferably educated to degree level

- Experience of working within the construction industry and knowledge of construction materials.

- Well developed negotiation skills and proven track record of procurement success.

- Expert in Supplier Relationship Management.

- Experience of Goods for Resale environment essential and knowledge of acquisition of capital goods, consumables and utilities preferred.

- Legal understanding of Terms and Conditions of contract for the purchase of goods and services.

- Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

- Must be self-motivated, have strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to solve problems at source.

- Must possess excellent organisation skills and good time management.

- Must be self-driven, friendly and genuine with a positive attitude and clear focus.
