About us
At Bath Spa University we work with one clear vision: to be a leading university in creativity, culture and enterprise. And as the fifth largest employer in Bath and North East Somerset, we're really bringing our local talent out on a global scale. And with ever growing student numbers, it's important for an expansion in our infrastructure and cherished buildings and landscapes. Transforming the lives of our socially engaged global students starts with making sure that our people, people like you, are engaged, empowered and feel valued for the hard work they do. And that's where you come in.
What is the College of Liberal Arts?
An institutional clustering of subjects from the arts, humanities, social sciences, and sciences that respects intellectual and disciplinary diversity and that fosters creative and critical dialogues and collaborations. It draws on classical, humanistic, and enlightenment models of education that place the university at the heart of civic society, and seeks to advance and apply knowledge through intellectual freedom, critical thinking, creative curiosity, reasoned debate, and public engagement.
About the role
The College of Liberal Arts is looking for an Administration Coordinator who will become an active member of the College Administration Management team, contributing to the development of plans and actions and taking responsibility for delivery of administrative requirements.
The College administration is shared between two teams, each managed by an Administration Coordinator.
The role holder will coordinate the effective and efficient delivery of administrative support to the fields of Writing & Performance and the Digital Academy, whilst balancing the needs and the requirements of the wider College and University community.
Writing and Performance
This brings together courses that include live performance as well as creative work by musicians, writers and actors in film and television. Through collaborative practice and a range of modular choices, students are encouraged to engage with the liberal arts agenda. Writing and Performance enhances employment prospects by engaging students with the demands of a portfolio career and therefore with BSU graduate attributes. This configuration of subjects, and their public-facing role, establishes BSU's work as a local, national and international ‘brand' whilst developing our cultural agenda. This will be attractive because it is relatively unusual to offer a diverse range of cognate subjects in a collaborative arrangement that facilitates such varieties of creative practice.
Digital Academy
The Academy brings together programmes that are characterised by their potential for creative collaboration and are at the vanguard of innovative approaches to curriculum design, teaching and assessment. The Academy is formed because we recognise the huge potential of new technologies to transform, disrupt and reconfigure academic life, in particular the challenge to disciplinary boundaries and to traditional modes of teaching and learning. The Academy has a pivotal role in the dissemination of innovatory ways of designing and delivering academic programmes and working with students in novel ways.
