Our Local Government client based in North London is recruiting a Qualified Social Worker – Children Services to provide a social work service to children and families arising out of the Council's duties and powers under legislation and regulations, Council and Departmental policies and procedures.

Duties will include:

  • To hold a caseload, including cases in court proceedings, and undertake a range of duties and responsibilities on behalf of the Department specified in the Children's Act 2004, Every Child Matters and such other legislation as is or may be appropriate to work with children and their families.
  • Undertake assessments of children looked after by the council to inform the development of appropriate care/protection plans to ensure statutory duties are met and these support the achievement of quality standards and practice development.
  • The role involves regular direct work, joint working, home visits and reflective sessions with clients, colleagues and partners.

Education – Essential

  • Degree in Social Work or CQSA, DipSW, CSS
  • Health Professions Council (HPC) Registration

Skills, Knowledge & Experience – Essentials

  • Must have substantial experience as a social worker and be able to manage complex cases.
  • Direct experience in assessment of risk in statutory child protection work.
  • Experience Of Working With Children On The Child Protection Register And Children Looked After
  • Detailed Knowledge Of Current Local Government Law And Social Services Law And Procedure
  • Aware of legislation, experience of working with children & families, particularly child protection & looked after children.
  • Must have the ability to make decisions, be able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Evidence Of Accuracy, Attention To Detail And To Keep Detailed Written Records Of Investigations
  • Ability To Work Within A Multi-disciplinary Team Environment
  • Experience of working with children, young people and families in diverse, inner-city communities
  • Registered Enhanced/Standard DBS Disclosure within the last 12 months
  • Understanding and commitment to the Equal Opportunities policy
