£24,289 p.a. plus benefits

Greater Manchester, home based.

1 Year Fixed Term Contract.

Full-time 35 hpw incl frequent evenings and weekends

An exciting opportunity to contribute to supporting, instigating and delivering focused growth and development projects creating new opportunities for more young people and adults within the Greater Manchester area. With a total membership of over 15000 the area offers Scouting in both Urban and Rural settings. Working with both volunteer and staff colleagues from across the Counties & Region, the projects aim is to open new sections and groups, and look at other ways we can deliver Scouting to our local communities. This is a home-based post, working frequent evenings and weekend and successful applicants will be expected to live within or close to the area.

You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage a diverse workload. You will be enthusiastic and able to enthuse others, enjoy challenge and responsibility and be highly motivated. Past or present adult membership of Scouting or Guiding is an advantage together with an understanding of issues facing youth and community services. The job will involve working unsocial hours; you must be able and willing to travel extensively, including spending occasional nights away from home.

Young people are our future and The Scout Association plays a vital role in developing them for adult life. The Association has developed a vision and strategy to take Scouting forward to 2018 and beyond. The Scout Association’s Regional Services Team will be an important element in achieving the vision by supporting the opening of new Scouting provisions and The Association is currently looking for a new Growth & Development Officer to join the existing team.
