Governing Board Lay Member

This Governing Body Lay Member positon at NHS Stoke-on-Trent Clinical Commissioning Group (SOTCCG) is a new role working with the CCG. Introduced following the recent publication by NHS England of strengthened guidance on managing conflicts of interest, the post holder will be integral to ensuring confidence and trust in the NHS.

Lay Members are key appointments for CCGs, bringing different perspectives to the organisations. Drawn from different professions, roles, background and experience, they provide differing insights into the range of challenges and opportunities faced by the CCG in order to ensure they can take a balanced view across the whole of their business.

We are therefore looking for an exceptional individual able to represent the interests of the people of Stoke-on-Trent ensuring that the CCG makes locally informed decisions that put the needs of patients and the public first.

We are looking for a person who can demonstrate senior, and ideally Board level experience and knowledge of corporate governance, financial and performance issues - gained in a complex public, commercial or voluntary sector organisation that either lives in Stoke-on-Trent; or has a good knowledge of the area e.g. works in this area.

The postholder is a voting member of the Governing Board and will share with other Board members responsibility for ensuring that the SOT CCG exercises its functions effectively, efficiently, and economically.

The time commitment is up to 4 days per month, and remuneration is £7882 per annum (based on 2.5 days per month, but will be increased accordingly) and is for a four year term.

The post holder needs to be available during the day and at least one fixed session to be on a Tuesday to attend Joint Governing Board meetings.

Attendance at Committees will include Primary Care Commissioning Committee and Planning and Commissioning Committee. Other committees or group meetings to be agreed with the Chair of SOTCCG, with some time commitment being required in the evenings.
