The Team

We are currently seeking a Tax and Capital Assistant for the Partner Finance, Tax & Capital team, reporting to the Senior Manager and Head of Partner Finance, Tax & Capital. The team are primarily responsible for paying partners their profits shares by way of monthly drawings and quarterly distributions, managing UK and overseas tax payments and filings on behalf of the partnership/partners, maintenance of partner tax reserves, and management of partner capital. Whilst this role is an entry-level position, there is scope to gain extensive technical knowledge and plenty of opportunity to expand the scope of the role to suit the right candidate.

The Role

Responsibilities include:

Setting up new partner orientation meetings for all newly promoted or lateral hire partners
Supporting Assistant Tax Manager with management of partner capital, which includes preparation of loan documentation for new partner capital loans, tracking partner responses to information requests and monthly capital account reconciliations
Tracking of days of UK non-resident partners and days spent in India on a monthly basis and flagging any issues to Senior Manager
Preparation of mortgage reference letters to confirm income levels for partners for lenders: this includes calculation of projected profit shares
Supporting wider Finance team and fee-earners with international withholding tax management and recovery, which includes requesting certificates of residence from HMRC
Collection of annual data from partners for inclusion in global tax return filings
Maintenance of partner worksite files capturing all new and retiring partner movements
Assisting UK Assistant Tax Manager with routine entries on UK self-assessment returns, packaging and submittal of returns to HMRC
Preparation of quarterly payment requisitions for German tax prepayments
Issuing annual Current Account statements to all partners

Skills and Experience Required

Intermediate or above Microsoft Excel skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Powerpoint
Ability to interact with senior stakeholders in a professional and eloquent manner
Self-review and attention to detail
High and focused energy levels
Intellectual curiosity
Ability to prioritise workload

Skills and Experience Desirable

Qualified/part-qualified in relevant tax/accounting qualification (e.g. ATT, AAT)
Previous experience working in a Tax or Finance team
Previous diary management experience
