Young Adult / Children's Support Worker Job in Shepton Mallet

Applicants will need a certificate in Positive Intervention Training 

We are currently recruiting Support Workers in Shepton Mallet to work with young adults and children with learning disabilities and/or challenging behaviour. We have a range of full and part time shifts available, including days, nights and weekends. It is essential that you are willing to work at least every other weekend to help support this package of care.

As a Support Worker for Learning Disabilities, you will provide essential care and support to Adults and Children, who live with a range of complex learning disabilities. We provide care and support to people in their own homes and also in specialist care settings. It is essential that you have worked in similar environments previously and are able to work well under pressure.

You will have gained experience through working with any of the following:

  • Learning Disability
  • Autism
  • Challenging behaviour
  • Acquired Brain Injury
  • Home care

Within your role you will be responsible for assisting with key health and personal support functions to assist the clients with day to day living. Our person centred service is designed to support all areas of the person centred care plan. This helps our clients to interact with their families and also the local community, whilst enabling them to maximise their independence and live fulfilling lives.

You will form an integral part of the Newcross Care at Home team in this varied and rewarding role, delivering person-centred care in accordance with personalised care plans that enrich lives.

You will have access to comprehensive training and 24 hour support, and in order to ensure that you always have enough work you will be employed on a permanent, flexible contract with guaranteed hours.

Due to the nature of this role, access to your own transport is essential.

  • At least 3 months’ previous paid experience working in a complex care environment in the UK within the last 3 years
