Junior Systems Engineer for DevOps role - Investment Banking

Hatstand, a global financial consultancy, is seeking a Junior Systems Engineer to move into DevOps within a Tier 1 Investment Bank.
This vacancy is part of the Hatstand Green Beret Programme, our unique talent development programme which arms talented graduates with the skills and experience necessary to craft a career in the competitive financial sector.
We are in the process of creating a multi-disciplinary DevOps team to work alongside several development teams. Development is performed under Agile and follows TDD and Continuous Integration. There are weekly code drops. Systems are used globally using grid computing. The function of the DevOps team is to make it easier for the development teams to operate effectively
Far more than just System Administration for Development, this team will have to manage users, Servers, services, databases and load balancers. Monitoring availability and access is important as the creation of automated tools. The databases include MS SQL, Sybase and Oracle and operating systems include UNIX, Linux and Windows. Tasks will include writing scripts to automate processes, troubleshooting server issues, analysing the management of data and assessing latency as well as facilitating Continuous Integration, Build and Release Management.
Applications are sought from graduate Computer Scientists with strong Scripting skills who have an analytical mindset and a good grasp of infrastructure. Having exposure to Continuous Integration and TDD would be beneficial. Candidates should have experience in any of the security protocols such as Kerberos, SSL etc. Experience in writing technical documentation, managing complex distributed stacks, performing parallel computing, Real Time messaging or batch scheduling would be highly preferable. Knowledge on appreciation of risk awareness(inc. Operational, Compliance, Business & Reputational) and Global Markets Acumen, focusing on:Trade Controls, Product Control, Accounting and Financial Management across Equities and FICC products would be beneficial. A love of all things technical and an enquiring mind is welcome as is a strong attention to detail. The ethos of this team is collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders so communication skills are vital.

Please note: This role will start in London but move to Bromley early 2017
