Your new role as Web Operations Engineer
You are a WebOps Engineer, and a senior one at that. You love Web & Internet engineering, it's a passion and someone you do better than most. This role is a challenge and hands on, but that's what you want! You will b building and managing automated cloud based infrastructure for high-volume multi-site web environments with in-depth knowledge of Amazon cloud applications (AWS would be great!).

What you'll need to succeed as Web Operations Engineer

So, the serious bit..

You will be expected to build and maintain all aspects of an automated cloud based web infrastructure, including writing automated system configuration and code deployment scripts; resolve complex caching and layer 7 HTTP(S) routing issues, and work closely with developers to improve and troubleshoot code and systems.

. Extensive experience of building and maintaining infrastructure automation, configuration and build/release tooling plus version control applications (Terraform, Puppet, Octopus, Teamcity, Git, Shell Scripting). Good grasp of ancillary ops services - alerting, monitoring and logging applications.
. In-depth knowledge of Amazon cloud systems and applications - EC2, VPCs, S3, RDS, Route53, Cloudwatch, etc.
. Load testing HTTP applications.
. Advanced knowledge of Linux-based web and database applications and administration - specifically Nginx, MySQL, IIS and MS SQL in virtual and cloud hosting environments. Scripting, analysing stack traces and performance optimising using RUM applications (New Relic).
. Experience in coding, ideally PHP.
. Strong understanding of Internet engineering, technologies and processes - routing, load balancing, caching, CDNs and security.
. Comprehensive experience of non-web Internet protocols and technologies, including DNS, TLS/SSL, FTP, SMTP, etc.
. Comfortable in a fast-paced, collaborative, frequently changing, technology environment.
