Banking Experience Only - experience of large Data Warehouses

Purpose of role

The role holder will be part of the BAU business support function in relation to the WIM Credit Risk and Treasury Finance (CRaFT) data warehouse with prominent focus on the delivery/maintenance of a business operating model and associated processes serving multi functional stakeholders which include regulatory commitments.

The role holder will also be required to take an active role alongside change colleagues to define, shape and deliver requirements relating to strategic initiatives which impact or are to be delivered through CRaFT.

The role will require engagement with functional business areas both at Wealth level and Group level as well as close working with the technology function.

Core accountabilities

The role holder's core accountabilities will be to deliver and maintain the business operating model based around the WIM Credit Risk and Finance Treasury (CRaFT) data warehouse in conjunction with team leader (Team size 2). As part of this they will provide business support covering the daily/monthly data sourcing and load process in conjunction with the Run the Bank team, perform data integrity conformance, eg data quality and reconciliation, and data provision and commentary to business stakeholders.

Accountabilities will also include ownership and delivery of business requirements in relation to the CRaFT Data Warehouse enhancements gaining appropriate business sign-off in relation to the scope and detailed requirements, and taking active role alongside change colleagues in relation to strategic initiatives that impact CRaFT. The role holder will be one of the main business contacts for the business/technology in relation to these requirements.

Role requirements

The role holder will be required to provide ongoing business support and maintain the business operating model based around the WIM Credit Risk and Finance Treasury (CRaFT) data warehouse and associated processes. The support model will need to evolve and change in line with business strategy. The role holder will be required to strike a balance between this requirement and ensuring business initiatives that impact CRaFT are understood by all stakeholder groups and do not cause a disruption to the service.

The role holder has responsibility for delivering business requirements in order to meet CRaFT specific enhancements and take active participation in other strategic initiatives within the firm that impact CRaFT. The role holder will take ownership of these requirements throughout the project life cycle.

Professional/technical experience

The role holder should be or be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience of supporting a production data warehouse providing a link between business users and the Run the Bank team

  • Experience of providing BAU support to business stakeholders from a data provision perspective.

  • Exposure to governance, control, quality, and risk management practices and a proven ability to effectively work across teams at all levels

  • Thorough understanding of typical operating model and business process paradigms as found within large organisations

  • Highly IT literate - able to understand technical models and appreciate connectivity with business practices and operations

  • Able to analyse large data sets from a data warehouse environment utilising structured queries, eg SQL

  • Solid experience of employing change management best practices and disciplines

  • Ability to converse fluently with Front Office professionals

  • Working knowledge of regulatory environments/frameworks

  • Proven ability to effectively work across teams at a senior level

  • Ability to negotiate/influence at a senior level

  • Financial industry experience eg Wealth Solutions, Regulated Background/Financial Industry

  • Experience and understanding of Treasury, balance sheet management and credit risk fundamentals and associated data used in risk assessment, reconciliation and internal/external reporting.

  • Previous regulatory reporting experience desirable but not essential

  • Proven Business Analysis skills and expertise

  • Proven analytical ability

  • Educated to degree level to be able to meet the intellectual demands of the job

  • Good understanding of operating models, and process design and project planning and implementation

  • IT skills - good grasp of technology and able to ensure business objectives are met by technology solution

Language skills

    • The role holder should have English as first language or competent in English to that level.
