You will lead and direct a team of social workers and family support workers in the delivery of an effective Children and Families practice team service. The team size will be in the region of six full time equivalent posts. Duties will involve leading in the recruitment, selection and induction of staff and the direct supervision and development of all staff in the team, in accordance with Council policies and guidelines. This will include responsibility for the identification of staff training needs and team development needs. The Team Manager will be responsible for monitoring the quality of performance of staff supervised in line with the Council’s Performance Review and Personal Development Planning system. This will also include responsibility for managing staff conduct and disciplinary matters.
The key duties of this post are:
To provide leadership and direction to a team of social workers and family support workers in the delivery of effective children and families practice team services.
To meet consumer need and ensure the service is responsive. To ensure that the work of the team is undertaken in accordance with legislation and guidance, Council policies and procedures and within agreed budgets.
The skills and experience you must have:
- Degree in Social Work, DipSW or approved equivalent.
- Practice team experience.
- Considerable and varied experience and established competence as a social work practitioner
This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from commencement in this post to register with the SSSC
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
